Quality standards
UNIMER organic matrices
UNIMER answered the market growing demand for high quality technical products through structural industrial investments and improvement of the manufacturing processes, especially with regard to the management and stabilization of organic matrices. The selection of the organic matrices is based on their superior quality features; they are characterized by excellent umigenous properties, due to a ripe bedstead, humified with dried cattle, horse and poultry manure, humified peat, along with green composted soil conditioner, simple non-composted soil conditioner and animal protein meal. The stabilization of the organic matrices, which by their nature have a variable composition over time, plays a fundamental role as it guarantees reliable long lasting quality standards, allowing humic and fulvic substances optimal activation. This results in a significant presence of Organic Humified Carbon in all UNIMER fertilizers. The reaction process between humified organic matrices and nutritional elements is guaranteed by humic substances’ capability of efficiently combine with the mineral components, thus resulting in stable humo-mineral complexes. The bonds between the functional groups of humic and fulvic acids and the mineral components guarantee the latter a high level of protection. All organic raw materials of animal origin comply with the requirements of EU Regulations n. 1069/2009, 142/2011 and 1605/2023 and subsequent amendments and additions. In respect of European Health rules, UNIMER products are subjected to over one hour heat treatment at 70° C.
The humified organic carbon
Annex 12 of Italian Legislative Decree No. 75/2010, in defining the quality of a fertilizer, gives each element its related rating index. The one attributed to Humified Organic Carbon is the highest: the gap between two elements in different forms is maximum in the case of non-humified and humified organic carbon: 0.3 vs. 2.5.
| Nitrogen (N) | α1=1,0 |
| Water soluble Phosphorus (P2O5) and neutral ammonium citrate | α2=1,0 |
| Phosphorus (P2O5) in other forms by law | α3=0,3 |
| Water soluble Potassium (K2O) from chloride | α4=0,6 |
| Water soluble Potassium (K2O) from sulphate/td> | α5=1,3 |
| Water soluble Magnesium (MgO) | α6=1,5 |
| Water unsoluble Magnesium (MgO) | α7=0,2 |
| Organic Nitrogen (N org) | α8=2,5 |
| Non-humified organic carbon (C) | α9=0,3 |
| Humified organic Carbon (Humic C) | α10=2,5 |
The rating index of humified organic carbon mirrors its extraordinary ability to enhance chemical and biological fertility of the soil, expresses the commercial value attributed by law for the fertilizer assessment and reflects the different availability of nutrients between chemical fertilizers and organo-mineral fertilizers with high amount of humified (fulvic and humic) organic carbon. UNIMER products boast their humified organic carbon ranging from 2.5 to 7%, thus increasing significantly their rating index.
