Quality of Organic Matrices

With the preparation of fertilizers, organic matrices show a widely variable range of composition which in turn determines multiple and complex feedbacks in terms of agronomic efficiency.

The physical, chemical and structural stability of the matrices plays a key role when outlining the qualitative and quantitative parameters of agronomic efficiency, since the different response to oxidation and degradation can ensure the performance continuity of the soil-fertilizer-plant system.

Furthermore, the stability of organic matrices is essential to ensure they don’t lose their features over time; their susceptibility to oxidation and extended degradation significantly restricts the release of nitrogen into the atmosphere, which in the case of mineral nitrogen fertilizers results in a significant environmental impact.

For this reason, the organic matrices used for UNIMER products are selected according to their performance and are both tested and surveyed to avoid all possible repercussions on the agroecosystem.

The organic matrices employed by UNIMER are characterized by superior umigenous features, due to a ripe bedstead, humified with dried manure and/or humified poultry manure, along with humified peat and green soil enhancer.

 

DRIED MANURE

It is a well balanced product for its components, which consist of humified cattle and horse manure (with bedstead) and other organic byproducts enriched in selected bacterial microflora. The latter, during the ripening process, is carefully preserved according to the following parameters:  moisture, mass porosity, temperature, optimal C/N (25) ratio, which is conducive to the multiplication of new soil fauna.

During the humification process the dried manure-based organic matrix provides a "slow-release" process, which can ensure the long-term supply of related nutrients, avoiding the burning of the plant roots with excessive nutrient concentrations.

The dried manure, subjected to the process of humification, enhances agricultural fertility and improves the physical, chemical and biological condition of the soil. The product is characterized by a prevailing ratio of the humic acids compared to the fulvic ones, and therefore preserves greater stability in mineralization than other matrices. The humic component, characterized by high molecular mass, allows the formation of stable bonds with the mineral component and gives excellent performance in soil enhancement.

 

DRIED POULTRY MANURE

The product is made of poultry manure mixed in bedstead and added to microbial flora; it undergoes humification after a thorough process of aerobiosis which leads to the formation of significant amounts of fulvic acids which prevail over the humic ones.

It results in an overall acidity and a number of functional (ketone, alcohol, carboxylic, amino and sulphydryl) radicals, which favourably lead to a high degree of protection of the mineral elements added.

The diffusion into soil particles towards the roots will be facilitated. Finally, the perfect state of ripeness, under the aerobiosis process, develops endogenous heat which allows to degrade residual antibiotics and eliminate harmful microflora.  

 

HUMIFIED PEAT

Peat is an organic fossil of vegetable origin.
Humified peat only is employed in the preparation of UNIMER fertilizers, which includes at least organic matter amounts equal to 40% and humic substances amounts equal to 12%.
The average rate of humification is equal to 46%.
Its use improves the water retention capacity of the soil and the structure of fertilizers, and increases the working coefficient of the mineral component.  

 

ANIMAL PROTEIN MEAL

Animal protein meal is rich in amino acids which are commonly found in nature and it works as a nitrogen organic protein base of high economic and agricultural value.

In formulating processes it makes a considerable structuring effect that allows more powerful imbibition and effective break-up into the soil.

Protein source components used in the composition of UNIMER fertilizers are selected depending on the agronomic features addressed to the finished product and consist of meat meal, integrated leather meal and hydrolyzed hides and skins.

The integration with the humic component of other organic elements allows the increase of agronomic soil fertility and nitrogen availability for crops.

All of the protein meal used responds to European Community legislation and undergoes a partial hydrolytic degradation of the protein component, thus facilitating the microbial attack in the ground.

 

SIMPLE NON-COMPOSTED SOIL CONDITIONER OF PLANT ORIGIN

Organic matrix composed of food industry processing residues, characterized by a high presence of high quality organic matter. Unfermented product made from tree bark and other plant materials as pomace, husk, barks, except for seaweeds and other marine plants.

Peat maximum content 20%  as is, and organic carbon minimum content 40% when dry.

 

GREEN COMPOSTED SOIL CONDITIONER

Organic matrix obtained by surveyed process of transformation and stabilization of organic materials that can be made of waste from ornamental plant maintenance, from crop residues and other plant materials such as Virgin pomace (either defatted or not), rich in humified Carbon.

All the products obtained through composting of plant materials only are included under this definition.

 

HEALTH STANDARDS

All organic raw materials of animal origin comply with the stated requirements in EC Regulation no. 1069/2009 and subsequent amendments and additions.
